Joe is walking from Carlisle Castle to the Tyne Bridge in one continuous push, through Saturday night and all the way through Sunday, with no overnight stop and no sleep, to raise money for the people and communities of Nepal affected by the devastating flooding.

Why Nepal

Nepal has been a huge part of Joe’s life for more than 20 years.

During that time, he has spent countless months in the country climbing, trekking, paddling, leading expeditions and working alongside local guides, porters, drivers and families.

But the biggest thing Nepal has given Joe and Alexander Adventures isn’t the adventures. It’s the people.

They became our Nepali family.

Alexander Adventures

Over the years, the people we work alongside have become far more than guides, drivers and colleagues. They have become our Nepali family.

Following the devastating flooding, this has become incredibly personal for all of us.

We’re keeping in close contact with our team, friends and families on the ground. Sadly, some members of our wider Nepali family remain missing, including Diwas, and we continue to hope and pray that he and everyone else still unaccounted for are found safe.

We don’t want to simply put up a post and move on.

We want to do something that can genuinely help.

The challenge

Carlisle to the Tyne,
without stopping.

Joe will complete the entire journey himself. Carlisle Castle to the Tyne Bridge, starting at 20:00 on Saturday 26 September 2026.

No overnight stop. No sleep. One continuous push. Through Saturday night and throughout Sunday, Joe will keep moving until he reaches the Tyne.

This isn’t about setting a record. It’s about doing something difficult to raise as much support as possible for Nepal.

Join the Wall

He’s doing it all.
You don’t have to.

Although Joe will complete the entire journey himself, we don’t want him to do it completely alone.

Throughout Sunday 27 September, people can join selected sections of the route. You don’t need to walk the entire distance. You could join for a few miles, take on a longer section, join the final push into Newcastle, help with support along the route, or simply come down to the Tyne Bridge for the finish.

If you’ve travelled to Nepal before, with Alexander Adventures, another organisation or independently, we’d particularly love you to get involved. But you absolutely do not need to have been to Nepal. If you’re based in the North East, support Alexander Adventures, or simply want to help the people of Nepal, we’d love to have you involved.

If you walk

£250

Minimum fundraising commitment

This is not an entry fee.

Anyone joining one of the organised walking sections commits to raising or donating a minimum of £250. You can raise your £250 through sponsorship, donate it yourself, combine donations and sponsorship, or raise considerably more. The £250 is simply the minimum commitment.

Raise it

Collect £250 in sponsorship from friends, family, colleagues.

Donate it

Give the £250 yourself, in one go, when you register.

Combine the two

Put in what you can and raise the rest in sponsorship.

Go further

Plenty of people will raise well beyond £250. £250 is the floor.

30walkers × £250

That would be

£7,500

for Nepal, before Joe’s own fundraising, general donations and business support are counted. This is an illustration of what the commitment adds up to, not money raised.

The support operation

Nobody is out there on their own.

Alexander Adventures will provide the operational support for the challenge. The vehicles will leapfrog the route throughout, supporting Joe and moving participants between joining and finishing points. The operation carries food, water, hot drinks, spare clothing, lighting, communications, navigation, first-aid and emergency equipment.

Joe will have been travelling continuously since 20:00 on Saturday, and his progress will determine when he reaches Newcastle. We can’t publish or guarantee an exact finish time.

Live tracking and social updates throughout Sunday will give a clearer expected arrival time. Come down to the Quayside and welcome Joe and the final walking group in.

Where the money goes

We want the entire process to be transparent.

We’re currently working closely with our contacts and team in Nepal to make sure the money raised goes where it can make a genuine difference.

Alexander Adventures takes nothing. Every pound raised goes towards supporting the people and communities of Nepal, apart from the card processing fee Stripe charges for handling the payment, which is deducted before the money reaches us. On a UK card that is 1.5% plus 20p, so a £25 donation arrives as £24.42.

Alexander Adventures is not a registered charity, and donations made through this site are not eligible for Gift Aid. We would rather tell you that up front than let you assume otherwise.

We’re moving

Every pound is another mile of it worth doing.
